1. Entry Requirements

CGI has no entry requirement for Foundation Level.
The Educational Authorities in Mauritius require any of:
1. A pass at HSC level 3P&1S or 2P&2S;
2. GCE A-level in three subjects;
3. A relevant Diploma from a recognised Institution.

If you are awaiting HSC results in order to enroll, then you may find it difficult to catch up on missed sessions. Enrolling provisionally is possible. Please attach 2^nd Term school results to the enrolment form.

2. Course Details

The Foundation Programme provides a broad introduction to business, how companies are governed, maintained and financially managed, and the laws to which they must adhere. The knowledge and skills gained through the Foundation Programme prepare you for studying Part One of the qualifying programme.

Study time: 200 hours

The Foundation Programme covers FOUR sections examined in a SINGLE 3 hour paper.
Section 1: Business Environment
Section 2: Company Law
Section 3: Principles of Compliance and Company Administration
Section 4: Principles of Accounting

CGI Foundation Programme provides the relevant skills and knowledge to help prepare you to meet the demands of Part One of Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme. This is especially useful if you do not have the academic or professional experience to enter the Qualifying Programme at Part One. The Foundation Programme is your first step on the path to a career as a governance professional or company secretary.

Content

The Foundation Programme covers the following subjects:

• Business environment – how businesses are organised and run and how the external environment affects business activities
• Law – an introduction to corporate and business (commercial) law and the legal framework within which businesses operate
• Company compliance and administration – introducing legal, ownership and management structures for companies, how companies are incorporated and routine company compliance and governance obligations
• Finance – the basics of bookkeeping and how to understand the components of financial documentation as well as the principles of financial decision making.

3. Proposed semester date for July 2025 intake

Foundation classes are run on Sundays from 9.00 to 1200

4. Fees

4.1 Course Fees for Foundation

SELF FINANCED Rs14,000

SPONSORED Rs15,000

The following facilities are available:

4.1.1 Sponsored students may, in lieu of payment, produce a letter from their firm accepting liability to settle course fees in full before classes start.

4.1.2 Self -financed students who complete all enrolment procedures and settle the tuition fees in full by 1st July 2025 are eligible to an early bird discount of Rs 1000.

4.2 CGI   fees (extracted from CGI website and subject to revision)

Deadlines must be scrupulously observed.

1. No invoice will be issued
2. All remittances should be into Belstar Bank Account
3. Evidence of remittances must be sent on or before deadline
4. Improperly completed forms will be rejected
5. Remittances relative to rejected forms will be refunded
6. If Receipt of payment is required, insert a note in your CGI form
7. Applicable Exchange Rates will be provided on 19 July via Notice Board
